8 Must-Have WordPress Plugins for Bloggers

If you have a WordPress blog, you probably know the value of good plugins. They can make blogging easier for us while providing visitors with a more user-friendly experience. Below are eight of my favorite WordPress plugins that I use on all of my blogs.

1. Contact Form 7 – While it’s a good idea to have your email address listed on your “Contact” page, some may prefer a more direct method for communication. This plugin allows you to quickly add a professional form to your page with no coding necessary.

2. Broken Link Checker – This plugin will let you know if you have any broken links within and outside of your site. For example, if you’ve link to an article on another site and it’s been taken down, you’ll get an alert to remove the link. Broken links can be bad for SEO, as well as your Google Pagerank.

3. Google Analytics – It’s very important to monitor your blog’s traffic, and this plugin makes it easy. Once you have signed up for Google Analytics (the most preferred method for traffic analysis), you can insert your ID into the settings page and it will automatically add it to your site for you. This one is helpful because you no longer have to worry about adding the Analytics code in if you were to change your blog’s theme – or it accidentally getting deleted.

4. Social – Automatically sending your new posts to Twitter or Facebook can be done with this plugin. This saves you time and you don’t have to worry about remembering to share your post each time you publish.

5. Flare – My current favorite social media WordPress plugin! It adds several share buttons to each post on your site. Visitors are then able to share your post on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and more in just a couple clicks and without leaving your blog.

6. WordPress SEO (Yoast) – The ultimate SEO plugin for WordPress blogs. It takes care of so many tasks to make sure you posts rank well in the search engines. The SEO check feature notifies you of any changes you need to make on each post to be sure they are properly optimized.

7. WPtouch – This plugin allows your site to be mobile friendly. With so many WordPress themes out there, not all of them look great on phones and tablets. With the mobile version, however, your blog should be easy to navigate no matter what the visitor is using to access it.

8. NoFollow Link – If you are going to work with brands, you need to add a “nofollow” tag to any links that are placed in sponsored or review posts (where money or products are received). This nifty plugin adds a button at the top of your WordPress post page that lets you quickly add that tag. Simply highlight the link, click the button, and it’s got the nofollow tag!

All of these plugins are available by searching their name in the Plugin section of your WP dashboard. That is the recommended way of installing these plugins as it’s faster and easier.

Easily working with Backup WordPress

Backup and restore is one of tasks of web master, if I don’t want to say it is very important. Imagine that you forgot backing up your website/blog/forum/… for several months, what will comes to you if your website suddenly crashed? If you are a employee, you may be sacked; if you are business owner, you may be broken. At least, you lose something in your past website.

When you chose WordPress for your site, this tasks will be much easier with plugin BackupWordpress. You can’t imagine that it will automatically backing up both files and database for you without much consumption of your server resources. Oops, it sounds great, because you don’t need to exchange by your site performance.

I myself backup both files and database once weekly for a bunch of sites, and download it to my secured storage device. Just a piece of time, and I don’t be worried about the security or anything related to my sites. I hope you will find it helpful as well as me.
